Pattern differences in parquet flooring

If you're thinking about parquet floors, then there are assorted parquet patterns. You can have the floor fitted at the classic herringbone however you could like have the simpler, very modern brick pattern. Or if you would like to go retro, attempt chequerboard. You might even utilize a contrasting block at the edge for example. This can be very effective -- you can view examples of this on our website.

We've got a few different patterns in the'favorite' and'more favorite' photos gallery. But to help you consider the choices I've put the different designs together on this page, courtesy of fitters or customers who have created something beautiful from reclaimed parquet:

  • Sapele herringbone pattern
  • Apitong brick bond pattern
  • Diagonal chequerboard pattern in Sapele

And the time consuming but extremely clever basket weave:

Below are a couple of the options for border blocks, either using a thinner piece or a whole block to add your contrast.

  • Chequerboard Rhodesian Teak and Oak
  • Ekki border block inset on an Oak herringbone

Chevron

You can't create a chevron pattern using a right-angled cut block; it is a distinctive cut parquet that's much less common in the UK. You can find it anywhere in France nevertheless, which tells you something! The chevron design is very on trend. The pattern is very well known in faded tones of oak however it is not readily available in a reclaimed parquet. We left the beech chevron panel under for our workshop. Since you can see the cut is different from herringbone flooring.
